Please note that in addition to the visa fee, a service fee of HK$ 47 will be charged by BLS international for each application.Value added services (VAS) are optional services and will be charged separately, if the applicant choose to avail those services.Applicants are free to avail these services from other places of their choice also.

INFORMATION FOR VISA APPLICANTS

Consulate General of India, Hong Kong issues Tourist, Business, Employment, Student and other types of visas to applicants who are residents of Hong Kong and Macau for a minimum period of two years. Tourist and Business Visas are normally issued in three working days if the applications are complete in all respects.
Visas can also be issued to applicants who are not residents of Hong Kong and Macau. A period of minimum 5 working days is required for processing such applications. An additional fee of HK$100 is charged for such cases. Such Visas are usually single entry and of short validity. Applicants need to satisfy the Visa Section of their requirement to submit their applications in Hong Kong and not in their places of residence. Those residing in the Mainland should submit their applications in Indian Missions/Posts located in Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING ONLINE APPLICATION

Applications are required to be filled-in online using "Internet Explorer" or "Google Chrome" at http://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa

(3) Please note down the Temporary Application ID: (Your Information will be saved if you click save button or continue to next page. If you exit without doing either of that, your information will be lost. Minimum field required for partial save is up to Date of Birth).

(4) Please fill in all the particulars including permanent and current address, e-mail id, mobile and phone nos. correctly. Also please mention the name and phone of references/contacts correctly. Applications without complete details are liable to be rejected.

(6) Please take a print of the application after completing it. The application No. will start with CHNH

After applying online, the applicant is requested to submit the print-out of the online filled application form along with all required documentation to BLS International Services Limited,10/F, Caltex House, 258 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong any working day between 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs for issue of Visa. There is no need for taking prior appointment for submission of applications. Applicants are attended to on first come first serve basis. At present, there is no need for the applicant to come in person for submitting the application. All original documents are required to be kept ready for verification during submission of Visa application. These will be returned after verification.

NOTE:

Visa is not a right and it can be denied without assigning any reason. All Visas are valid from Date of Issue, not from date of arrival in India. Visa fee is processing charges. It cannot be refunded under any circumstances, whether Visa is denied or granted for a shorter period than applied for. Once Visa is granted, it cannot be changed or amended. Acceptance of Visa application does not automatically guarantee grant of a Visa.

Applicants must enter and exit India before the date of expiry mentioned on the visa.

Some fake websites are reported to be duping those who seek Visa for India. Therefore, it is requested that all visa, passport, consular and other services seekers should exercise utmost caution while accessing the websites for such services. The only websites under the purview of this Consulate is www.cgihk.gov.in. and www.blsindia-hongkong.com.

Those residing in the Mainland should submit their applications in Indian Missions/Posts located in Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou. Please retain your original receipts and produce the same for return of passports. All travellers to India, especially long term, are advised to check the latest immigration and entry regulations before travel.

eTourist Visa(eTV)

eTourist Visa is available for holders of passport of following countries

eTourist Visa

DIPLOMATIC/OFFICIAL VISA

Diplomatic, Official or Service and UN Passports requiring Indian Visa may be submitted directly to the Consulate between 9.30 AM to 12.00 PM along with Note Verbale.

Documents to be submitted along with Visa application form

  1. One printed copy of the online visa application form with a recent photograph (2" x 2" - White background and as per PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS and duly signed on both pages.
  2. Diplomatic/Official/Service passport with at least two blank pages and minimum 6 months validity.
  3. Copy of profile page of Diplomatic passport. If applicant is holding dual nationality copy of profile page of both passports.
  4. Copy of Consular Corps ID issued by Hong Kong/Macau Govt.
  5. Note Verbale.

 

TOURIST VISA

Tourist Visa is issued to a person to visit India for sight-seeing, recreation, casual visit to meet friends/relatives and not for any other purpose/activity like business, participation in sport tournaments, employment, joining yoga courses, conference, journalism etc.

Tourist Visa allows a maximum stay of 90 days at a stretch from the date of arrival in India on a single visit. Tourist Visa is non-extendable, non-convertible and there should be a gap of 2 months between two successive visits to India for the nationals of Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, foreigners of Pakistani origin and Stateless persons.

All persons of Indian origin and their minor children are advised to apply for "Entry" visa as far as possible as it is extendable in India and allows uninterrupted stay for longer periods.

NOTE: All persons travelling to India on board a Cruise are advised to obtain "Tourist Visa" in advance.


 
Documents to be submitted along with Visa application form

    1. One printed copy of the online visa application form with a recent photograph (2" x2" - White background and as per PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS and duly signed on both pages.
    2. Original passport with at least two blank pages and minimum 6 months validity.

    5. Proof of travel as tourists such as leave/vacation letters from employers, Tour Package receipts booked from travel agents, self-made tours including details of trip and planned itinerary, copy of latest bank statement, etc.
    6. An ADDITIONAL FORM may be submitted providing complete details of travel

Three working days for HK and Macau ID card holders who are resident for a period of two years.

BUSINESS VISA

Business visas  are normally issued to those applicants who intend to go to India for genuine business purposes. A letter each from the local employer and the sponsoring company in India stating the purpose of visit; places & organizations to be visited; and duration of visit is required to be submitted along with the Visa application. The invitation letter should contain the full name, address, and telephone, mobile no, and e-mail of the authorised signatory. Copy of HKSAR/Macau Business registration is also required.

Documents to be submitted along with Visa application form

  1. One printed copy of the online visa application form with a recent photograph (2" x 2" - White background and as per PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS and duly signed on both pages.
  2. Original passport with at least two blank pages and minimum 6 months validity.
  3. Copy of profile page of passport. If applicant is holding dual nationality copy of profile page of both passports.
  4. Copy of Hong Kong/Macau ID.  Non Hong Kong/Macau passport holders holding Hong Kong/Macau non-permanent ID cards need to provide a copy of their recent Hong Kong/Macau visa/visa extension page.
  5. Recommendation Letter from the Hong Kong/Macau company clearly mentioning the profile of the company and complete details of the profile & passport of the applicant. It should mention exact purpose of visit(s)and dates/durations of the same for multiple visas.
  6. Business card/Name card of the applicant.
  7. Invitation letter from Indian company stating purpose of visit (s), duration of visit.
  8. A copy of the Hong Kong/Macau Business Registration certificate (B.R. copy).

FAQs on Business/Employment Visa

EMPLOYMENT VISA

Employment visa is issued to highly skilled and qualified professionals who are taking up assignment/employment with companies registered in India. An authenticated copy of the Employment contract and proof of registration of the employing organisation are to be furnished. Employment visa is granted initially for a period of six months or for the duration of the employment contract. Further extension, if necessary, may be granted by the relevant Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in India.
Those going for volunteer work should also apply for Employment visa.

Documents to be submitted along with Visa application form

2.  Original passport with at least two blank pages and minimum 6 months validity.

5. Offer of appointment from the company clearly mentioning the profile of the company and complete details of the profile & passport of the applicant.
6. Copy of Contract showing terms and conditions, including nature of job, details of emoluments,  tax related issues signed by both employer and prospective employee
7. Letter from Indian Company stating why they are unable to recruit the position from India.
8.Copies of documents relating to company's incorporation in India
9. Recommendation from Hong Kong/Macau company in case of transfer/secondment.
10. Resume/C.V showing qualification and work experience of the applicant.

Remarks

Entry (X) visa can be issued to the applicant's dependent family members on production of proof of their relationship (i.e. marriage certificate in case of spouse and birth certificate in case of children).

STUDENT & RESEARCH VISA

Student Visa is issued for pursuing regular and full time academic studies in India. No other activities like business, employment, etc., are permitted. It is normally issued for the duration of the course of study. The applicant should submit proof of admission to a recognized educational institution in India along with documents certifying recognition of the Educational institution in India by concerned Government agency.

Foreigners who intend to study yoga should apply for Student Visa. The Yoga institution should be recognised by Ministry of Home affairs, Govt. of India, for admitting foreign students.

Documents to be submitted along with Visa application form

  1. One printed copy of the online visa application form with a recent photograph (2" x 2" - White background and as per PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS and duly signed on both pages.
  2. Original passport with at least two blank pages and minimum 6 months validity.
  3. Copies of Hong Kong/Macau ID and profile page of valid passport. Non Hong Kong/Macau passport holders holding Hong Kong/Macau non-permanent ID cards need to provide a copy of their recent Hong Kong/Macau visa/visa extension page.
  4. Letter of admission from recognized Indian institution where admission has been secured.
  5. Copy of Birth Certificate.
  6. Letter from parent regarding financial support along with his/her Hong Kong/Macau ID copy and/or Bank Statement, in case of minor.
  7. Proof of fees paid.
  8. Approval from Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India stating that the institution is recognised for admitting foreign students for study of yoga, vedic culture/Indian system of dance/music
  9. No objection Certificate from Ministry of Health, Govt. of India in case of admission to medical or para-medical course.

It may be ensured by applicants that admission is sought in institutions affiliated to recognised boards/universities.

CONFERENCE VISA

Conference Visa is granted for the duration of the conference to those who are going to India for attending an international conference/seminar/workshop etc. A copy of the letter of invitation from the organiser is required.. Letter from the local participant/employer should also be submitted to establish credentials of the applicant. Prior Clearance from Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs,  Govt. of India would be required for  foreigners participating in conferences/seminars/workshops etc if they are  from Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, foreigners of Pakistani origin and Stateless persons.

FAQs on Conference Visa

JOURNALIST VISA, VISA FOR FILMING/PRODUCING DOCUMENTARIES IN INDIA

Journalist Visa is issued to professional journalists, photographers, film producers/directors (other than commercial films), a representative of radio or television organisation, travel writers/photographers etc. travelling to India for work-related purposes. A correspondent, columnist, cartoonist, editor or professional journalist working for an association/company engaged in production or broadcast of audio news or audio visual news or current affairs programme through print media, electronic or any other form should apply for Journalist Visa for travel to India. Journalists visiting India for any other purpose like tourism should also apply for Journalist Visa.

  9. Journalists, editors, writers, publishers, etc. who are visiting India for purposes like tourism are requested to provide an undertaking from their employers that they would not engage in any journalistic or reporting activities during their trip

Applicant may be required to attend a personal interview at the Consulate.

TRANSIT VISA

Transit visas are issued for transiting through India. It is valid for 15 days from the date of issue of the Visa. Applicant is permitted to stay for only 72 hrs in transit. Transit Visa must be obtained before departure. Transit Visas can't be obtained from immigration counters at ports of entry in India. Evidence of confirmed onward travel to a destination outside India is required.

Passengers having a connecting flight for onward journey and who do not intend to leave the airport or pass through the Immigration do not need a Transit Visa.

6. For Seamen - Recommendation and invitation letters from the shipping companies in Hong Kong/India stating details of 'joining' the concerned vessel.

ENTRY VISA FOR PERSONS OF INDIAN ORIGIN

Foreign nationals of Indian origin are eligible for Entry Visa which may be granted for a period of six months to five years depending on the purpose and the status of the applicant. This type of Visa entitles the holder to a continuous stay in India of up to six months on each visit and may allow a continuous stay beyond six months (180 days) provided the holder registers himself/herself with the nearest Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within two weeks of arrival in India

2. Original passport with at least two blank pages and minimum 6 months validity.

4. Copy of Hong Kong/Macau ID.  Non Hong Kong/Macau passport holders holding Hong Kong/Macau non-permanent ID cards need to provide a copy of their recent Hong Kong/Macau visa/visa extension page.
5. Copy of last held Indian Passport and Surrender Certificate or Deemed Surrender Certificate. If the applicant had never held Indian passport, copy of last held Indian passport and surrender/deemed surrender certificate of parents or OCI/PIO card of parents along with birth certificate of applicant is required.
6. Registration/Naturalization certificate of foreign nationality.
Foreigners  who never held Indian nationality (as also  their parents/grand parents)  who are married to Indian Nationals are required to submit , copy of Indian Passport of spouse along with a copy of marriage certificate

ENTRY VISA FOR SPORT PERSONS

All Sports persons going to India for participation in international sporting events are required to apply for Entry Visa. Visa will be issued for the duration of sporting event. Officials/coaches/trainers etc. accompanying the player contingents will need to apply for Business Visa. It may, however, be noted that a copy of the clearance granted by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports of Government of India for holding the International Event needs to be submitted with the Visa application.

MEDICAL VISA

Medical Visa is issued for the purpose of seeking medical treatment in recognised/specialised treatment centres in India. Medical documents establishing the need for medical treatment in India along with the offer of treatment from a recognised medical institution in India are necessary to consider grant of Medical Visa. Proof of availability of sufficient funds for the duration of stay and the expenses for medical treatment in India should also be submitted with confirmed return tickets.

6. Recommendation letter from treating Doctor from Hong Kong/Macau to undergo treatment in India.
7. Proof of financial standing  (Bank Statement as proof of availability  of money to spend during stay in India)

Note: As per the latest instructions, commissioning of surrogacy in India by foreign nationals (including OCI cardholders) is not permitted and no visa is now granted for this purpose.

MEDICAL ATTENDANT VISA

Medical Attendant Visa is issued to family members/attendants of patients who are granted Medical Visa to undergo treatment in India.

5 Copy of Medical Visa of the patient who is required to be accompanied by the applicant
6.Letter from Medical authorities in Hong Kong specifying the requirement of medical attendant
7. Letter from Indian Hospital authorities recommending the need of Medical Attendant for the patient.

Days required for processing

Three working days for HK and Macau ID card holders who are resident for a period of two years.
Minimum five working days for non-residents.

Remarks

Applicants who are not resident or who have not completed two years of residence in HK or Macau are required to fill in the PERSONAL PARTICULARS FORM in addition to the Visa application form.

TRANSFER OF VISA

Documents to be submitted along with Visa application form

1. One printed copy of the online visa application form with a recent photograph (2" x 2" - White background and as per PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS and duly signed on both pages.
2. Original passport with at least two blank pages and minimum 6 months validity.

AIESEC STUDENTS

Entry Visa for students sponsored by AIESEC for social and community work in NGOs.

Business Visa for students sponsored by AIESEC for project work in companies/industries Invitation letter from the NGO/Company in India giving exact details about the type of voluntary work, duration of the work, stipend to be paid, if any and other details pertain to the Internship. The letter should also explain how the work in this internship is helpful to the applicant in his/her career goals. AIESEC should certify whether the NGO/Company would pay stipend, provide boarding/lodging, to the student. It should also provide a detailed profile of the NGO along with a copy of the registration letter of the NGO/business registration copy of company concerned.

PAKISTANI NATIONALS AND PERSONS OF PAKISTANI ORIGIN

The following additional documents are required form Pakistani Nationals
(1) SPONSORSHIP CERTIFICATE is required for Visitor Visa by Pakistani Nationals
(2) ADDITIONAL FORM to be submitted by Pakistani Nationals and Persons of Pakistani origin

Illegal Use of 'Thuraya' Satellite Phones in India
The use/operation of any telegraph services/devices including wireless in India is regulated by the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885. As per the existing guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, Inmarsat Satphones excluding BGAN system can be used by the Government, Corporate Houses, Members of the Mountaineering Expedition and other such categories with prior permission from DoT. Thuraya Satphone service is not permitted in India. Anyone using any telegraphic devices including Satphone unauthorisedly violates Section 4 of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 and he/she can be penalized under Section 20 and 21 of the said Act.
