Frequently Asked Questions on Transit in Hong Kong

1.    Can I transit through the Hong Kong International Airport?

Yes, if conditions in Para 2 are fulfilled.

2.    What conditions need to be fulfilled while transiting via Hong Kong International Airport?

a.         Passengers must hold a confirmed ticket or onward boarding pass departing HKIA within 24 hours of their scheduled time of arrival

b.         Baggage should be tagged-through to their onward destination.

c.         Passengers should also confirm in advance that they are able to enter the final destination

d.         Face masks have to be worn throughout the journey (masks with exhalation valves or vents are not permitted)

3.    Do I need an RT PCR or RAT test before boarding if only transiting Hong Kong?

No, a pre-departure RT PCR or RAT test is not required for transit passengers.

4.    Do I need to fill the health declaration form mandated by the HKSAR Government for arrivals?

No, transit passengers are not required to fill the health declaration.

5.    Do I have to wear a face mask during my transit time?

Passengers must wear face masks in all indoor and outdoor public areas at Hong Kong International Airport. masks with exhalation valves or vents are not permitted)

6.    Are there any restaurants open for transit?

While most shops at HKIA have scaled down since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, some shops and restaurants provide passengers with essential services for shortened operating hours, including food and beverage, pharmacy, convenience store, money exchange and duty-free shops.
