DTAA between India and Hong Kong enteres into force

Press release

1. The Agreement between Republic of India and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of People’s Republic of China for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to taxes on income was signed on 19th March 2018.
2. India completed all the relevant procedures required by its laws for the  entry into force of the agreement on 11 May 2018 and the government of HKSAR completed all the relevant procedures required by its laws for the  entry into force of the agreement on 30th November 2018.
3. Accordingly the agreement has entered into force on 30th November 2018.
4. DTAA will stimulate flow of investment, technology and personnel from India to HKSAR & vice versa, prevent double taxation and provide for exchange of information between us. It will improve transparency in tax matters and will help curb tax evasion and tax avoidance.
